The western
half of the Bear Paw Mountains contains the tallest of the peaks.
It also contains the bulk of the forested area - which actually
extends down to the valley floor below in many areas. The reason
for the trees is that the western part of the Bear Paws is both
at a higher elevation and receives more moisture - allowing for
richer grass and forested mountain slopes. |
