| This is one of the two power plants that are at Fort Peck Dam. Fort Peck Lake was created for three main reasons : 1) to provide flood control, 2) to provide water for irrigation, and 3) to provide power to this remote area of Montana. Fort Peck Dam has served these three purposes very well. Too bad a fourth reason has been recently added - providing water for the Nebraska barge industry, which has severely drained the lakes water both in Montana and downstream in North Dakota. |
