shows the summit of Mt. Lockhart, seen from the top of the double
chairlift. As you can see in this photo, there is no shortage of
appealing "out of bounds" skiing for those willing to do the 1300
vertical foot hike up to the summit. Notice how parts of the summit
are relatively bare of snow - this occurs due to exposure to the
sun as well as high winds - which can prevent the snow from sticking
on some exposed spots of the mountain. If doing out of bounds skiing
from the summit, the most popular route is to go down the right
side of the summit (the right side seen in this photo, that is). |
