This photograph was taken about midway up the trail, around mile marker 3 more or less. This section of the trail is more forested than what is found further back down the trail, yet you still get awesome views - and the trees can provide for a welcome relief from the heat during warm days. The mass of mountains that dominate the skyline in this photograph is called the "Ptarmigan Wall."
