Lightweight Sleeping Pads

Therm-a-Rest Ridge Rest Sleeping Pad
$19.95

Named for its pattern of ridges and valleys, The Thermarest Ridge Rest is warmer, softer, and more comfortable than other non-molded closed-cell foam pads.

If you go backpacking, then you want a lightweight sleeping pad. If you do lots of car camping, you'll probably want to go with a luxury sleeping pad instead.

As for what to get, you have two choices. You can get a self-inflating pad or a foam pad. In general, both work equally well. Some people find the foam pads less comfortable, but I've never noticed that. About the only problem with a foam pad is that they are a bit bulkier. On the other hand, you don't have to worry about the pad developing a hole either.
