The Bears Paw
Mountains of Montana is very isolated, with the nearest major town,
Havre, being a considerable distance away - depending on where
you are. This particular photo was taken in the very isolated eastern
reaches of the Bears Paw Mountains. The Bears Paw Mountains are
essentially divided into two regions - east and west. The west
region has the taller peaks, more of them and is much more forested.
By contrast, the eastern region has smaller, partially wooded peaks
seperated by often massive valleys of grass. Due to all this grass,
and the areas dryness, cattle grazing is the primary activity here. |
