Harlowton
has no shortage of abandoned buildings in the downtown area (although
according to an email I received, this may have changed since this
guide was prepared in 2003).
The boom
years for Harlowton and the rest of the small towns in
the
plains of Montana was during the 1920's. Since then, most of
the towns in eastern and central Montana have lost population
and their
economic base due to the consolidation of the agricultural
industry. This
building was called the State Theatre, which recently burned
according to an email I received by a resident of Harlowton. |
