This photo shows a small part of the "upper section" of Hellroaring Basin at Whitefish Mountain Resort. Hellroaring Basin, at least for expert skiers, is the "crown jewel" of skiing on the mountain. All the trails, with the exception of the "boundary trail" called Hell Fire, are expert/advanced. And none are groomed. After a good snow, powder skiing rules back in Hellroaring Basin.
Just be advised that the lower portion of Hellroaring Basin becomes fairly wooded and isn't nearly as open as this photo shows. Thus, skiers who don't feel comfortable making turns in fairly thick forests might want to stay out of this part of the mountain...or at least go with a friend who knows the "routes" through the thickest parts of the trees.
