The vegetation at The National Bison Range consists primarily of grass. The terrain varies from near flat to small mountains and rolling hills. Trees are found on some of the sheltered, higher, and primarily north-facing slopes due to receiving and being able to retain more moisture than at lower elevations or on southern exposures.
