The Butte,
Anaconda and Pacific was the first electric railway in Montana.
While it never quite made it to the Pacific Ocean, this railway
was the primary mover of Ore between Butte and the smelter in
Anaconda - about 16 miles away. Today, all but a small section
of the original railway has been ripped up, with the right of
way either being converted to informal roads or, in some places,
to bike and walking paths.
