This is another
view of the breaks area. We spent hours and hours looking for elk
in this type of terrain during our hunt in 2004. But all to no
avail. We saw lots of tracks and droppings - but live elk were
a scarce commodity. Apparently, the elk had been pushed hard early
in the season and so were inhabiting the farthest reaches and corners
of the breaks area. Of course, with all the splendid cover the
elk have in this part of Montana, they could have just remained
still and quite in their sheltered confines and the odds are we
would have never of found them, either! |
