Photos of the Missouri River Recreation Road Byway
The Missouri River Recreation Road Scenic Byway is less "scenic" and more "fun," if that makes any sense. The byway closely follows Interstate 15 between Wolf Creek and Hardy, Montana. Indeed, the byway often parallels the Interstate. So that begs the question, why take this route? Simple, the drive is fun! The drive provides nice views and superb access to the fabulous Missouri River. I simply find this byway a relaxing and enjoyable trip, and a nice break away from the Interstate. While the byway takes an extra thirty minutes to do versus staying on the freeway, in my opinion, the extra thirty minutes is well spent. Oh yeah, the fishing on this section of the Missouri River is superb, so if you're an angler in search of trout, don't leave this scenic byway off your list.
