This is a rather poor photograph of the Granite Park Chalet, one of
two "huts" that lie out in the backcountry of Glacier National
Park. The Granite Park Chalet can only be reached by hiking either up
the shorter but far more difficult Loop
Trail or taking the easy, but longer hike down the more scenic Highline
Trail. No matter how you get here, though, Granite Park Chalet is
actually sort of a "mini hotel" that is located in the wilderness.
While rooms at the Chalet are anything but cheap, you do get decent food
and a stunning view right out your window. The other nice thing is that
this Chalet is located right in the heart of some ideal day hikes. If
you have a couple of hundred extra dollars to spare and like to day hike,
spending two or three nights here may be worth the price of admission.
