Glacier National Park has several hundred fishing spots, more than 800 miles of trails and countless other scenic sights and activities within the parks boundaries. For this reason, unless all you want to do is to drive the popular and scenic Going to the Sun Road, you'll want a guidebook of some kind.
If you plan on going fishing - get a fishing guidebook so you don't end up fishing in one of the many "fishless" lakes in Glacier. If you plan on hiking, absolutely, positively get a hiking guidebook so you don't find yourself on a trail that far exceeds you physical abilities. And yet other books are available that cover other areas of interest.
