Montana has an absolute wealth of hiking. Between the massive National Forest lands that are home to some of the largest wilderness areas in the United States, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park and other public lands....I've found one of the most difficult decisions you have when planning a hiking trip in Montana is where to start.
Not surprisingly, with so many places to hike, along with the ever-increasing popularity of day hiking and backpacking, many books have been written about hiking in Montana. Listed on this page are all the books I've been able to track down that are about the hiking opportunities in Montana (and in parts of Wyoming & Idaho, too).
Note, additional books and maps are available for Yellowstone Nat'l Park & Glacier Nat'l Park. Visit the Yellowstone Nat'l Park Books or Glacier National Park Books sections for more information.
