Empty Medicine Lodge Valley But Good Road
The Medicine Lodge Valley to the west of the Tendoy Mountains is vast, remote and empty. However, the road that the Big Sheep Creek Backcountry Byway follows in this section of the drive is wide and usually in good condition. The only times this road would be problematic is during mud season or after prolonged wet weather. HOWEVER, about midway down the valley the road changes considerably - and for five miles or so becomes essentially a two-track dirt road - and is not maintained. So enjoy the good road conditions while you can!
