With all the grasslands that lie in the shadow of the tall peaks of the Anaconda Range, it isn't hard to understand why elk enjoy this area so much. Indeed, the purpose of the Mt. Haggin Wildlife Management Area is to provide critical range for elk, especially during the winter. However, even during the summer elk graze here.
