The Yaak River Country of Montana
The Yaak River Scenic Drive goes into the Yaak region of Montana. This part of Montana is characterized by thick forests and moderately tall mountains that are, usually, well below timberline. While the elevation of the mountains in the Yaak region of Montana are not that high, the vertical rise of the mountains off the valley floor is often significant. The valley elevations in this part of Montana are very low, thus making a 5,000 mountain into a formidable one when seen from below.
