Little Chief Mountain is one of many mountains that rise abruptly out of St. Mary Lake. This picture was taken by hiking about 2 minutes up the trail at Sunrift Gorge (which lies right along the Going to the Sun Road). Sunrift Gorge itself is where Barring Creek cuts right through solid rock, making it look almost like a natural canal.
