Mt. Gould in Glacier Park

Loop Trail Pictures

The Loop Trail connects the Granite Park Chalet and the Highline Trail to the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park. Shown below are various pictures taken on a hike up (actually, down) the Loop Trail in August of 2004.

As most people know, much of Glacier was burned over during the terrible fire season of 2003. The area the Loop Trail runs through was extensively burned over by the Trapper Creek Fire. As such, what use to be a very thickly forested area is now a stand of dead trees. Yet, despite all the dead trees, due to the quick growth of the ground cover and countless flowers, the Loop Trail is a relatively scenic hike...assuming you can look past the burnt pine trees.
