The Middle Fork Clearwater River Outside Kooskia, Idaho
The western starting point for the Lochsa River Scenic Byway is Kooskia, Idaho. The Byway intially follows not the Lochsa River, but instead the Middle Fork Clearwater River. The Middle Fork Clearwater River is formed by the confluence of the Selway River and the Lochsa River 24 miles upstream from Kooskia.
