Gold Butte in the Sweet Grass Hills of Montana
Gold Butte, with an elevation of 6512 feet, is the smallest of the three buttes that form the Sweet Grass Hills. Yet it is highly visible from just about anywhere in this part of Montana, as it rises abruptly off the prairie floor. Gold Butte also is located a bit closer to US Highway 2, making it more visible to the many people "passing through" this part of Montana on their way to Glacier National Park.
